Russia sees decline in stainless steel output

Russia's stainless steel production fell in the first seven months of 2005 as stainless steel production became unprofitable. Russia's Federal State Statistics Service said that the country's stainless steel production fell 40.8 percent year on year to 36'640 tons in the first seven months of the year. Russia's largest stainless steel producer Chelyabink Metallurgy Combine produced 4'550 tons of stainless steel during the same period, down 83.1 percent from a year earlier.
