As reported by the Ukrainian Ferroalloy Producers Association, during the first five months of 2007, Russia imported about 118,000 metric tons of ferroalloys from Ukraine, thus almost sustaining the level of a year earlier.

In addition, Russia's imports of ferroalloys from another CIS country, Kazakhstan, are also reported to be on the decrease.

The association concluded that although the Russian market is showing strong demand for imported ferroalloys, Ukrainian and Kazakh origin materials in the market are being replaced with those from China, especially as regards ferrosilicomanganese.
