According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal State Statistics Service, in the first three months of 2007 the country registered a 1.9 percent rise in coal mining output and a 3.2 percent rise in iron ore mining output year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 81.3 million and 25.4 million.
In addition, during the same period, Russia produced 8.3 million metric tons of coke - up 4.6 percent, 14.9 million metric tons of finished steel products - up 7.4 percent, and 2.1 million metric tons of steel pipes - up 27.6 percent, all compared to the corresponding period of last year.
