Russia issues January-July production results

According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal State Statistics Service, in the first seven months of 2007 the country registered a 0.1 percent drop in coal mining output against a 3.2 percent rise in iron ore mining output year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 176 million and 60.7 million.

In addition, during the same period Russia produced 19.8 million metric tons of coke - up 5.8 percent, 30 million metric tons of pig iron - down three percent, 34.7 million metric tons of finished steel products - up 3.4 percent, and 5.2 million metric tons of steel pipes - up 20.7 percent, all compared to the corresponding period of last year.
