According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal State Statistics Service, in January-April this year Russia produced 18.4 million metric tons of finished steel products - up 23 percent, 2.8 million metric tons of steel pipes - up 46.2 percent, and 16.3 million mt of pig iron - up 30.2 percent, all compared to January-April 2009.
In addition, in the first four months of this year the country registered a 17.8 percent increase in its coal mining output and a 23.3 percent rise in its iron ore concentrate output year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 108 million and 30.1 million.
Meanwhile, Russia's metallurgical coke output during the period in question went up by 32.6 percent year on year to 9.2 million metric tons.
Meanwhile, in April this year, Russia's finished steel products output increased by two percent, its pig iron output went up by 0.8 percent, while its pipe production decreased by 5.1 percent, all compared to March.
In April, Russia's coal output went down by 15.3 percent, its coke production decreased by 2.5 percent, while its iron ore concentrate output rose by 1.5 percent, all compared to March.
