According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal State Statistics Service, in January-February this year Russia produced 8.8 million metric tons of finished steel products - up 22.6 percent, 1.3 million metric tons of steel pipes - up 55.6 percent, and 7.8 million mt of pig iron - up 35.6 percent, all compared to January-February 2009.
Meanwhile, in February 2010, Russia's finished steel products output decreased by 3.9 percent, its pig iron output went down by 7.7 percent, while its pipe production increased by 8.3 percent, all compared to January 2010.
In addition, in the first two months of this year the country registered a 17 percent increase in its coal mining output and a 36.7 percent rise in its iron ore mining output year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 53.8 million and 14.7 million. Meanwhile, Russia's coke output in January-February 2010 went up by 39.5 percent year on year to 4.5 million metric tons.
In February 2010, Russia's coal output increased by 2.9 percent, its iron ore mining output went down by 4.2 percent, while its coke production decreased by 5.2 percent, all compared to January 2010.
