Russia issues Jan-Oct output results

According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal State Statistics Service, in the first ten months of 2009 Russia produced 48.3 million metric tons of crude steel - down 21.7 percent, 41.8 million metric tons of finished steel products - down 17.5 percent, 5.3 million metric tons of steel pipes - down 23.3 percent, all compared to January-October 2008.

In addition, during the same period the country registered a 12.2 percent decrease in coal mining output and a 16.3 percent reduction in iron ore mining output year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 239 million and 75.5 million.
