Russia issues Jan-Feb 2009 output results

According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal State Statistics Service, in the first two months of 2009 the country registered a 19.3 percent decrease in coal mining output and a 31.7 percent reduction in iron ore mining output year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 45.7 million and 11.8 million.
 
In addition, during the same period Russia produced 3.6 million metric tons of coke - down 37.6 percent, 7.3 million metric tons of finished steel products - down 30.5 percent, and 814,000 metric tons of steel pipes - down 34.3 percent, all compared to January-February 2008.
