Russia issues Jan 2007 production results

According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal State Statistics Service, in January 2007 the country registered a 7.3 percent rise in coal mining output and a 6.1 percent rise in iron ore mining output year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 28.1 million and 8.8 million. In addition, during the same period, Russia produced 2.8 million metric tons of coke - up 4.7 percent, 5.2 million metric tons of finished steel products - up 10.1 percent, 673,000 metric tons of steel pipes - up 34.5 percent, and 650,000 metric tons of cold rolled – down six percent, all compared to the same period of last year.
