Russia issues import and export data for January-November 2010

According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal Customs Service, in the first 11 months of 2010 Russia exported 35.47 million mt of ferrous metals, registering a 5.4 percent increase year on year. Of this volume, 33 million mt were delivered to non-CIS countries - up 5.2 percent year on year, and about 2.47 million mt were supplied to CIS countries - up 8.3 percent year on year.
 
Russia's exports of semi-finished steel products went up in January-November by 12.8 percent to 14.41 million mt, its exports of ferroalloys increased by 15.5 percent to 830,800 mt, its exports of pig iron decreased by 13.6 percent to 3.43 million mt, while its flat rolled product exports went down by 9.4 percent to 7.51 million mt, all compared to January-November 2009.
 
Meanwhile, during the period in question, Russia registered a 7.1 percent increase year on year in its iron ore concentrate exports to 19.3 million mt and 31 percent growth year on year in its coke and semi-coke exports to 2.18 million mt.
 
On the other hand, in the first 11 months of last year, Russia's ferrous metal imports increased by 41.5 percent year on year to 4.58 million mt, of which 1.9 million mt were imported from non-CIS countries - up 72.3 percent year on year, and 2.68 million mt were supplied from CIS countries - up 25.5 percent year on year.
 
Russia's steel pipe imports in January-November last year rose by 141.2 percent to 1.26 million mt, of which 670,600 mt were imported from non-CIS countries - up 296 percent year on year, and 588,300 mt were supplied from CIS countries - up 67 percent year on year.
 
* Data are presented without taking into account the mutual trade with the Republic of Kazakhstan in July-November 2010, due to the cancellation of customs clearance of goods at the Russian-Kazakh border as of July 1, 2010.
