According to the data released by the Russian Federation’s Federal Customs Service, in 2007
Russia exported 27.445 million metric tons of ferrous metals (excluding
pig iron, ferroalloys and
scrap) - down 3.5 percent, 5.634 million metric tons of
pig iron - down 5.2 percent, 776,000 metric tons of ferroalloys - up 6.4 percent, 14.605 million metric tons of semi-finished steel products - up 0.75 percent, 8.071 million metric tons of flat rolled products - down 9.1 percent, 25.501 million metric tons of
iron ore and concentrate - up 11.7 percent, and 3.15 million metric tons of coke and semi-coke - up 76 percent, all compared to 2006.
During the period in question,
Russia increased its ferrous metal imports (excluding
pig iron, ferroalloys and
scrap) by 33.8 percent and its steel
pipe imports by 6.4 percent year on year, to 6.025 million metric tons and 1.492 million metric tons respectively.
