Romania’s Tenaris Silcotub to lay off 110 workers

Starting from the current week, Tenaris Silcotub, one of the leading Romanian seamless steel pipe producers, will lay off 110 workers and reduce its working schedule due to the unfavorable market conditions.

According to local reports, all the 110 redundant workers are to receive compensatory salaries.

Tenaris Silcotub's reduced working schedule will include one week of work for personnel, followed by one week of training, one week of recess, and so on. Meanwhile, during the period in question, employees are to receive their full salaries.

Tenaris Silcotub is specialized in the production of small diameter seamless steel pipes used in the mechanical, automotive, oil and gas, chemical and petrochemical, and power supply industries. Its Zalau-based facility employs 1,030 workers and produces 180,000 mt of seamless pipes per year, while its Calarasi-based steelmaking facility employs 300 workers, and has an annual production capacity of 470,000 mt of steel.
