According to a statement released by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl), in the second quarter of this year, rolled steel product orders in Germany improved by 23 percent as compared to the second quarter of the previous year, totaling 9.19 million metric tons. However as compared to the first quarter of this year, rolled steel product orders regressed by seven percent, due to the ending of temporal boosting effect of inventory purchases of steel dealers and processing plants.

According to the WV Stahl, the outlook for the remainder of the year is shaped by uncertainty. On the one hand, in the third quarter of the year, received rolled steel product orders are expected to decline further, as the market slows down in summer months. Considerable risks also arise from the distortions on the raw materials markets. On the other hand, in the course of the recent economic upswing, a continuous recovery of the steel market widened in Germany.
