RINL and VSP up sales and output in FY 2007-08

According to the data released by India's Ministry of Steel, Vsakhapatnam Steel Plant's (VSP) flagship company, Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd. (RINL), registered a 14 percent rise in sales output to Rupees 10,425 million ($258,000) in the Indian financial year 2007-2008. RINL's domestic sales also saw growth, up 13 percent to Rupees 9,869 million ($224,000).

In addition, during the same period RINL/VSP's value added steel production reached 19 million tons, up 74 percent compared to FY 2006-2007.

During FY 2007-2008 VSP sold 18.27 million tons of value added steel - up 64 percent year on year. On the other hand, the company sold 7.21 million tons of steel in project sales - up 30 percent year on year. Also in FY 2007-2008, VSP's rebar sales increased dramatically by seven percent, and its sales share in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh rose from 52.4 percent to 54.5 percent year on year.
