As previously reported by SteelOrbis, North American steelmaker Republic Engineered Products LLC suddenly closed most of its facilities. The company has filed for bankruptcy protection on October 6, 2003 to maintain its operations. Accordingly, Republic is waiting for court approval to make the current wage payments and benefit programs for employees. Company officials expressed that it is very difficult for them to continue operations without financial aid.
