Finnish steelmaker Rautaruukki (Ruukki) has announced the receipt of an order worth about €3 million from Skanska Infra for the Crusell bridge, which will link the headland of Jätkäsaari to Ruoholahti in Helsinki, Finland.

Ruukki is to deliver the piles as well as all the steel structures, including installation, to Skanska Infra Oy. The bridge has been commissioned by the City of Helsinki Public Works Department.

Ruukki's deliveries will begin in January 2009 and be completed by the end of the year. The Crusell bridge will open to traffic in July 2010. The piles for the bridge are being made in Finland at Ruukki's Oulainen and Pulkkila works and the steel structures at the Ylivieska works.

"We chose Ruukki to deliver the steel structures because it is a reliable supplier and its bid provided best value for money," notes project manager Pentti Ovalo from Skanska Infra.
