Rautaruukki cuts 460 jobs in Finland

Finnish steelmaker Rautaruukki (Ruukki) has announced the conclusion of the employer-employee negotiations initiated by Rautaruukki in Finland on December 1, 2008.

The negotiations have resulted in a decision to cut about 460 jobs at the Hämeenlinna and Raahe works in Finland. When the company launched negotiations in December, it said up to 520 jobs would be cut.

The reductions will take place mainly during the first half of 2009.

Rautaruukki added it would lay off temporarily about 3,200 workers in Finland with the timing and duration varying according to site.
