Flat-rolled steel service center Ratner Steel Supply Co., based in Roseville, Minnesota, announced Tuesday plans to invest $14.25 million to build and equip a new steel service center facility at the Port of Indiana Burns Harbor in Portage, Indiana. Construction on the 102,000 square-foot plant will begin later this month and is expected to be operational in early 2013. Ratner serves US Midwest and Canadian agricultural, fabrication, and energy customer.

By 2015, Ratner expects to create over 30 jobs at the new service center location, resulting in $210,000 in conditional tax credits from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.
