Production resumes at Mechel’s New-Olzherassk coal mine

Mechel, one of the leading Russian mining and steelmaking companies, has announced that work at several facilities at its New-Olzherassk coal mine, which is part of its subsidiary Southern Kuzbass Coal Company, has been fully resumed after a temporary suspension.

Administrative suspension of work at several facilities at New-Olzherassk mine was lifted on Thursday, February 16, ahead of schedule, by the order of the Mezhdurechensk city court as all grounds for the suspension have been eliminated. Accordingly, New-Olzherassk mine has resumed normal operations.

The works were suspended at the mine following an inspection by conducted by the Mezhdurechensk territorial branch of the Southern Siberian monitoring agency.
