South Korean steel giant Pohang Iron and Steel Co. (POSCO) has stated that it has developed a special type of steel plate which is able to radiate heat and can be used in light emitting diode (LED) televisions.

POSCO has commissioned production of the new steel plates at its Gwangyang plant and aims to supply them to LG Display Co. and other South Korean producers of electronic goods.

In July of the current year, POSCO applied for and received a patent for its technology used in the production of the new plates from the Korean Intellectual Property Office.
