POSCO launches S. Korea’s first low-carbon steel brand

South Korean steelmaker Pohang Iron and Steel Co. (POSCO) has announced that it has launched the country’s first low-carbon steel product called Greenate certified steel in line with its aim to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

According to the statement, the company’s total amount of certified carbon emission reduction is 590,000 mt, meaning that the company can sell 200,000-300,000 mt of Greenate certified steel.

South Korea-based LG Electronics has ordered 200 mt of the new product, becoming the first customer to purchase Greenate certified steel.
