Major South Korean steel producer Pohang Iron and Steel Co. (POSCO) plans to focus on repairing its pickling and cold rolling mills during its fourth quarter repair works. However, it will also carry out large-scale repair works on a hot rolling mill and two wire rod mills in the last quarter of the year.

POSCO, which repaired the No. 1 pickling and cold rolling mill of its Gwangyang Works for a week from October 4 to 10, is scheduled to repair the No.1 pickling and cold rolling mill of its Pohang Works from October 27 to November 15. Its facility repair works for the No. 4 pickling and cold rolling mill of the Gwangyang Works and the No. 2 pickling and cold rolling mill of the Pohang Works will be carried out for two weeks starting from November 20 and for eight days between December 3 and 13, respectively.

POSCO's facility repair works at these four pickling and cold rolling mills are expected to exercise a considerable impact on the production of its cold rolled steel sheets in the fourth quarter of the year. However, POSCO has stated that there will no particular problem in the supply of its products, as it has stored up a large volume of them in preparation for its planned repair works.

In addition to the facility repair works at the four pickling and cold rolling mills, POSCO is scheduled to repair the No. 1 hot rolling mill at its Pohang Works from November 1 to 10. Furthermore, it will repair its No. 2 wire rod mill from October 24 to 31 and its No. 1 wire rod mill from November 28 to December 5 at the Pohang Works.
