South Korean steel giant POSCO has announced that the company and its affiliates will hire an additional 1,000 employees during the second half of this year.

In a statement POSCO said that it will now hire 3,500 new employees instead of the 2,500 initially planned, considering the expansion of investments for new and existing facilities, the increase of affiliates through M&A, and the hiring expansion of social enterprises.

POSCO has increased its new jobs figure from 700 to 850, while its affiliates have increased their aggregate new jobs total from 1,800 to 2,650.

POSCO plans to assign these new employees to be hired in the second half of the year to new investment projects and overseas projects as well as the R&D field. The figure of new hires increases to 5,520 including interns.
