Poland’s JSW sees improved profit for H1

Europe's largest coking coal producer Poland-based Jastrzebska Spolka Weglowa SA (JSW) has announced its financial results for the first half 2012.

In the first half of 2012, JSW's net profit improved 51.3 percent year on year to PLN783.1 million ($238 million), while its sales revenues decreased by five percent to PLN 4.63 billion ($1.4 billion) compared to the previous year.
 
For the given period, JSW's coal production increased by 13.4 percent, while coke production increased by 36 percent, both compared to corresponding period of the previous year. The first half investments for the coal segment reached PLN721 million ($218.9 million) while coke segment investment was PLN61.7 million ($18.7 million) in the first six months of the current year.
