The Pilbara Ports Authority (PPA) has announced that it has taken a decision to keep handling fees at current levels for the ports of Port Hedland and Dampier until at least July 1, 2016.

The PPA said that the decision is in response to the challenging market conditions being experienced by all commodity shippers. The port authority is trying to make port operations as efficient and cost-effective as possible.

Meanwhile, iron ore prices have continued to decline, with the ex-Australia 61.5 percent Fe iron ore price standing at $68/mt CFR China as of Monday, December 22.
