Pakistan’s scrap imports up 16.2 percent in August from July

Pakistan’s scrap imports amounted to 210,575 mt in August this year, increasing by 16.2 percent compared to July and down by 22.4 percent year on year, according to the data released by the Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics (PFBS). The value of these imports in the given month was $97.4 million, up by 10.8 percent month on month and down by 37.4 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s iron and steel imports in August amounted to 231,750 mt, increasing by 44.9 percent on year-on-year basis and by 44.6 percent compared to the previous month. In the given month, the value of Pakistan’s iron and steel imports was $161.63 million, moving up by 9.6 percent year on year and by 9.2 percent month on month.
