Pakistan's iron and steel scrap imports up 22.6% in January

Pakistan's iron and steel scrap imports amounted to 268,897 mt in January this year, remaining almost unchanged compared to December and up 22.6 percent year on year, according to the data released by the Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics (PFBS). The value of these imports in January was $100 million, decreasing by 2.4 percent month on month and up 21.02 year on year.

Meanwhile, Pakistan's iron and steel imports in January amounted to 271,182 mt, up 11.4 percent on month-on-month basis and rising by 30.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. In the given month, the value of Pakistan's iron and steel imports was $170.7 million, increasing by 4.9 percent month on month and up 14.9 percent year on year.
