Pakistan’s National Tariff Commission has announced that it has initiated an antidumping (AD) duty investigation against imports of tinplate of a width of 600 mm or more and of a thickness of less than 0.5 mm from China, the European Union (EU), South Africa and the United States (US).

The investigation was launched upon the complaint lodged by the local tinplate producer Siddiqsons Tin plate Limited, claiming that the tinplate is being exported to Pakistan at dumped prices from China, the EU, South Africa and the US and that these imports have caused and are causing material injury to the domestic industry producing the same product.

The products subject to antidumping duty investigation currently fall under Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 7210.1210 and 7210.1290.
