Ozkan Steel USA to build steel plant in Louisiana

Ozkan Steel USA LLC will build a steel plant with an annual capacity of 300,000 mt in southern Louisiana, US, focused on the shipbuilding industry, with a total investment of $150 million. The steel plant will employ 350 people. The exact location for the steel plant will be announced in June.
 
Construction will be carried out in three phases. The first phase will include the facility to sort scrap metal, while work on the second phase, involving the construction of the melting plant, will start in June 2014. The construction of the third phase, the rolling mill, will start in June 2015.
 
Meanwhile, following media reports referring to Ozkan Steel USA as the US subsidiary of Turkey-based steelmaker Ozkan Demir Celik, the Turkish steelmaker has told SteelOrbis that it has no connection with the abovementioned investment.
