Overhauls impact outputs of Chinese steel mills

On August 20, the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) issued details of overhauls being carried out or due to be carried out by Chinese steel mills.
 
According to the CISA, Chinese steel producers have already halted or plan to halt 54 blast furnaces for capital repairs, causing a potential output shortfall of 3.442 million mt. In addition, overhaul work will be carried out on 30 rebar production lines affecting output of 785,000 mt, on 11 plate production lines affecting output of 850,000 mt, nine hot rolled coil (HRC) production lines causing an output shortfall of 1,235,000 mt, two cold rolled coil (CRC) production lines affecting 50,000 mt, three steel strip production lines affecting output of 62,000 mt, and one wire rod production line resulting in a shortfall of 30,000 mt.
