Outotec receives palletizing plant order from Tata Steel

Finland-based Outotec Oyj, a global provider of process solutions, technologies and services for the mining and metallurgical industries, has announced the receipt of an order from the Indian steel producer Tata Steel for the supply of a large iron ore pelletizing plant at its steel works in Jamshedpur.

The delivery is scheduled to be completed in 2010 and the value of the order is estimated at more than €70 million.

The deal includes Outotec's basic and detail engineering, supply of critical and proprietary equipment for a plant with a 768 square meter grate area, and also includes technical assistance services. Outotec's local partner in the project is Larsen & Toubro Ltd, whose work covers detail engineering, local supplies, erection and commissioning, along with civil and structural works.

The new plant will be the largest iron ore pelletizing plant in India and among the largest in the world.
