Orbis Steel Index: Inactivity prevails in steel markets

In the week from September 12 to September 18, scrap indexes in the Orbis Steel Index have switched to sideways movement again after the increase in the previous week. In the flat rolled products, Turkish CRC index started to move upwards after four weeks, while Turkish HRC index decreased after five weeks of sideways movement.

As per the Orbis Steel Index data, the index movements in the week from September 12 to September 18 as per product are as follows:
 
Turkish Scrap Index has switched to sideways movement this week. Index value remains at 192.6.
 
US (East Coast) HMS I/II Scrap Export Index moved sideways this week. Index value remains at 205.18.
 
Turkish Rebar Index has increased for the second consecutive week by 0.36 percent to 179.08 compared to the previous week.

Turkish HRC Index started to decrease after five weeks of sideways movement. The index value dropped 0.65 percent to 124.39.
 
Black Sea HRC Export Index has not changed compared to the previous week. The index value stays at 133.89.

Turkish HDG Index moved sideways this week, with the index value remaining at 118.3.
 
Turkish CRC Index increased by 0.56 percent compared to the previous week. The index value climbed to 124.66.

*Explanations:
 
Turkish Scrap Index: Based on the weighted average of prices published by SteelOrbis of domestic ferrous scrap purchased weekly by Turkish steel mills, and imported HMS 80/20 CFR Turkey.
 
Turkish Rebar Index: Based on the weighted average of prices published by SteelOrbis of commercial quality deformed steel reinforcing bars produced and sold by Turkish mills and subsequently merchants, both in the domestic market on ex-warehouse basis and for export on FOB Turkey basis.
 
Turkish HRC Index: Based on the weighted average of prices published by SteelOrbis of commercial quality HRC produced or imported, and then sold by Turkish mills on ex-warehouse basis.
