OMK delivers first pipes for Nord Stream’s second line

Russian steel and pipe producer United Metallurgical Company (OMK) has announced that its Novgorod-based pipe producer Vyksa Steel Works (Vyksa) has delivered the first batch of 3,500 mt of large diameter (LD) pipes for the construction of the second line of the Nord Stream international gas pipeline.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, OMK was awarded 25 percent of the tender for pipe deliveries. Up to April 2011, OMK's Vyksa will deliver for this project more than 200,000 mt of X70 strength steel pipes of 1,220 mm diameter and of 34.6 mm wall thickness with a three-layered corrosion-resistant external and internal coating.
