Cleveland, Ohio-based Olympic Steel, Inc., a national metals service center, announced plans Friday to expand its warehouse and processing facilities. In April 2011, Olympic Steel completed the purchase of its previously announced facility located on US Steel Corporation's Gary Works site in Gary, Indiana. This new location-about 177,000 square feet (16,444 meters)-will house Olympic Steel's new temper mill and cut-to-length line, and is expected to be operation by year-end 2011.

Additionally, in April Olympic Steel completed leasing agreements for 43,000 square feet (3,995 meters) of warehouse and staging space in Kansas City, Missouri and 8,000 square feet (743 meters) of additional warehouse space in Quincy, Washington. During Q2 2011, the company is planning on leasing 57,000 square feet (5,295 meters) of warehouse space in St. Paul, Minnesota.

South of border, Olympic Steel has also entered into a lease agreement in April 2011 to operate about 15,000 square feet (1,393 meters) of warehouse space in Monterrey, Mexico.
