OECD employment rises to 68.2 percent in Q1

The employment rate of the 34 Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) member countries was up 0.2 percentage points quarter on quarter to 68.2 percent in the first quarter of this year.

In the first quarter of this year, employment rose by 0.1 percentage point in the euro area to 66.9 percent compared to the previous quarter. The highest quarter-on-quarter increases were observed in Japan with 0.6 percentage point growth to 76.3 percent, in Hungary with a 0.5 percentage point increase to 69.2 percent, in the United Kingdom and Mexico with a 0.3 percentage point rise to 74.7 percent and 61.4 percent, respectively, in the United States and in Turkey with a 0.2 percentage point increase to 70.5 percent and 52.5 percent, respectively, all quarter on quarter.

In the given quarter, the employment rate decreased by 0.4 percentage points in Iceland  to 85.2 percent and declined by 0.2 percentage points in Canada to 73.7 percent, both on quarter on quarter basis.
