Number of steelmakers in Shandong to be cut to five or six by 2015

According to the government of China's Shandong Province, by 2015 the number of steel producing enterprises in the province is expected to be reduced to five or six from the current total of 21.

Meanwhile, by 2015 overall annual steel production capacity in the province is planned to be reduced by at least 10 million mt from the current level to 50 million mt. By 2013, the leading steelmaker in the province, Shandong Iron and Steel Group, is expected to complete the restructuring of local steel producers Rizhao Iron and Steel Co. and Qingdao Iron and Steel Co.
