The world's second biggest steelmaker Japan-based Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corp. (NSSMC) has announced that it has reached an agreement for long-term supply of titanium alloy billet with SAFRAN Group, which includes one of the world’s major jet engine manufacturer, SNECMA. NSSMC has recently been approved by SNECMA for supply of standard-grade titanium alloy.

The agreement is continuation of the current long-term contract and is expected to become effective within a few years.

In particular, production of SAFRAN's new engine, to be used in the Boeing 737 MAX and Airbus 320 NEO, is scheduled to increase. NSSMC will contribute to this growing aerospace industry by supplying high quality and competitive titanium materials.
