The world's second biggest steelmaker Japan-based Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corp. (NSSMC) has announced that it will install a continuous hot-dip galvanizing line at its Kimitsu Works in Chiba Prefecture to strengthen the supply system for ultra-high-tensile steel sheets. The new line, which is scheduled to start production in the second quarter of 2020, will be able to produce ultra-high-tensile steel sheets and will have a production capacity of 33,000 mt per month. The new line will replace the existing continuous hot-dip galvanizing line No. 4 at the plant.

NSSMC stated that it has decided to strengthen its supply system for ultra-high-tensile steel sheets in order to respond to growing needs for ultra-high-tensile steel sheets that realize automobile bodies with lighter weight and enhanced high strength.
