According to the most recent report by Baker Hughes, the weekly US rotary rig count increased 7 to 1,661 for the week ending September 17. This reflects a year-on-year increase of 651 rigs.

However, the Canadian rig count decreased by 50 from last week and is now at at 33, representing a 119 year-over-year increase.  Baker Hughes attributed the significant weekly rig count decline to "extreme unseasonable rainfall".
