The Russian steelmaker Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) has stated that it has commissioned two-station hot metal desulfurization unit with an annual capacity of 5.8 million mt at its main site in Lipetsk. This will result in a higher share of low-sulfur metal output and an expanded range of steels with improved quality characteristics.

Three hot metal desulfurization units with a total capacity of around 7 million mt per year had previously been launched by NLMK.

Investments in the project totaled around RUB 1.5 billion ($49.6 million).
