Nippon Steel to hike plate prices in April

Japanese steel producer Nippon Steel Corporation (NSC) will increase the sales price of its steel plate by Yen 5'000 ($46) per for April orders or April-May shipment, sources report. With this move, the total of the price increases since the beginning of the year amount to Yen 10'000 ($93). NSC also disclosed that if demand continues to be strong, further hikes would be made throughout fiscal 2005, which begins in April.
