Nigerian Ajaokuta Steel Comp. launches in January 2004

According to market reports, Nigerian iron and steel producer Ajaokuta Steel Company will be put into commission in January 2004. The steel plant is estimated to be worth multi billion Nigerian Naira. It is reported by an official that, in order to feed rod consumption within the country and abroad, the light rolling mill of the plant has already started to work at full capacity. He also stressed that this kind of initiatives play an important role in reducing the crime rate in Nigeria by lowering unemployement and poverty level in the country.
