According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in May this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey increased by 32.7 percent year on year to 110,114 units and fell by 7.1 percent on month-on-month basis.
New passenger car registrations in May this year totaled 62,114 units, decreasing by 10 percent as compared to April and were up 43.3 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 56.4 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations in the given month.
On the other hand, new small truck registrations in May decreased by 5.5 percent month on month and were up 74.8 percent year on year, amounting to 17,021 units. Small truck registrations constituted 16.3 percent of total new registrations in May this year.
