New steel production base to be built in Anyang by 2015

The municipal authorities of the city of Anyang in China's Henan Province have issued a document on industrial structure adjustment in Anyang during China's 12th five-year plan period (2011-15). According to the document, as regards the iron and steel industry the Anyang authorities foresee the construction of a high value-added steel production base in the city by 2015, with anticipated annual sales revenues of RMB 150 billion ($23.81 billion). Among the steel enterprises involved in the construction of this steel production base will be Shagang Group subsidiary Anyang Yongxing Iron and Steel Co. and Henan Fengbao Special Steel Co. Meanwhile, the city of Anyang is expected to account for two thirds of the iron and steel industry in Henan Province by 2015.

Also during the 12th five-year plan period, the Anyang authorities plan to accelerate the construction of a 1.2 million mt capacity cold rolled sheet production project and a 250,000 mt capacity cold rolled silicon sheet production project, while it also foresees expansion of production of high value-added flat steel products for the automotive and home appliance sectors.
