As reported by the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), in January this year the total price-adjusted value of new orders in the overall German construction industry rose by 10.6 percent year on year, with a 15.0 percent increase in the building construction sector and a 5.2 percent rise in the civil and underground engineering sector, both year on year. In the given month, the total turnover in the overall German construction industry amounted to €4.8 billion, indicating an increase of 21.7 percent compared to January 2013.
Meanwhile, at the end of January this year the number of employees in the German construction industry amounted to 721,000, increasing by 7,000 year on year.
