New motor vehicle registrations in Turkey up 8.3% in May from April

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in May this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey increased by 5.3 percent year on year to 115,917 units and were up by 8.3 percent on month-on-month basis.
 
New passenger car registrations in May this year totaled 71,109 units, increasing by 10.1 percent as compared to April and up 14.5 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 61.3 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations in the given month.
 
On the other hand, new small truck registrations in May increased by 10.1 percent month on month and were up 1.4 percent year on year, amounting to 17,261 units. Small truck registrations constituted 14.9 percent of total new registrations in May this year.
