New motor vehicle registrations in Turkey down 50.7% in Feb from Jan

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in February this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey increased by 29.5 percent year on year to 67,645 units and decreased by 50.7 percent on month-on-month basis. In the January-February period, new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey totaled 204,979 units, up 16.1 percent year on year.
 
New passenger car registrations in February this year totaled 37,864 units, decreasing by 57.2 percent as compared to the previous month and up 34.4 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 56 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations in February.
 
On the other hand, new small truck registrations in February decreased by 59.2 percent month on month and were up 60 percent year on year, amounting to 11,661 units. Small truck registrations constituted 17.2 percent of total new registrations in the given month.
