Canada will benefit with the ability to carry more cargo to the United States and overseas as a result of a new framework pact signed by the Montreal Port Authority and Canadian National Railway Company on Monday. The agreement aims to increase the port's efficiency as it boosts its share of cargo shipped between Europe, Ontario, and the US Midwest, while increasing the global market competition for its customers.

The new agreement will improve rail services and reinforce Canada's position as a market frontrunner on the North Atlantic. The deal is said to be one of several collaboration deals that have been reached with some of Canada's major Eastern and Western ports.
