NBS: China’s crude steel output up 4.4 percent in January-May

In May this year, China produced 61.73 million mt of pig iron and 95.78 million mt of finished steel, indicating respective decreases of 0.1 percent and 1.9 percent year on year, while it produced 72.26 million mt of crude steel, up 1.8 percent year on year, as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on June 14.

In the January-May period of the current year, China produced 300.47 million mt of pig iron, 346.83 million mt of crude steel and 453.68 million mt of finished steel, up 3.3 percent, 4.4 percent and 0.8 percent year on year, respectively.
