Regarding Turkey’s dispute consultations request from the World Trade Organization (WTO) Secretariat about the antidumping (AD) duty imposed by Morocco on imports of Turkish hot rolled steel, Turkish Steel Exporters' Association (CIB) chairman Namık Ekinci said that during the period from the announcement of the preliminary results to the final results, Morrocco prevented Turkey’s product sales to the country with non-tariff barriers such as not granting import certificate to Turkish companies, which is against the WTO rules.

Ekinci stated that without any dumping, by imposing 11 percent antidumping (AD) duty on imports of hot rolled steel in 2014, Morocco impeded Turkey’s exports, accordingly the consultations before the WTO is an important development for the Turkish steel exporters. Ekinci also stated that Turkey will also lodge a dispute regarding the duty investigation initiated by the US on imports of OCTG soon.
